Getting Married? Need Engagement Advice? Listen up.
I am pleased to announce that today’s post is all about…Listed by order of importance according to me…
(Useful? Yes, they get eaten rather than cluttering up your guest’s houses after the wedding!)
(Why? Well, unlike balloons and other decorations, should they end up in a landfill they will biodegrade).
(How? Well you can make the cookies yourself, or the cookies can serve many purposes as decorations/table centerpieces/appetizers/seating cards/party favors.)
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I get when I write about cookies – but I will try to restrain myself.
Many countries traditionally serve a cookie at weddings (I found cookie recipes for Mexico, Italy, Greece, and Lithuania online). Bake these cookies from your heritage (or, maybe you’re lucky and you have an auntie who will do it for you). Another option: serve them at your hometown reception as a way of bringing back the flavor from the country where your destination wedding took place. If you can’t find a recipe, adjust the Mexican recipe to suit the country (for example, add macadamia nuts for a Hawaiian wedding) or pick any traditional cookie recipe from the appropriate country (for example, lebkuchen from Germany).
Here is an example of homemade cookies and handmade packaging for a wedding. Select tissue and printing to match the rest of the wedding theme. You can order the gift boxes, tissue, and labels from myownlabels.com and then assemble everything at home (they even supply the recipe for the cookies!)

You can also dip Oreo cookies in chocolate and decorate them yourself. Lots of great ideas and instructions at sugarcraft.com (you can buy the supplies from them, too).
Use transfer sheets that match your wedding colors to make them elegant.

Or add lollipop sticks and candies for a fun centerpiece and favor!

Here’s a unique take on a cookie – you cut the cookie into strips and then wrap it around a mold. You can fill them with any treats that you like.
